IVO Joins Local Motors on Olli 2.0 Development

The Local Motors Industries (LMI) autonomous bus, Olli, represents a bold convergence of modern engineering and forward-thinking design. Built from the ground up, Olli is a fully autonomous, largely 3D-printed vehicle engineered to redefine both urban mobility and the vehicle development process itself.

Olli has already proven its viability with the successful deployment of Olli 1.0. Utilizing groundbreaking large-scale 3D-printing technology, the vehicle structure can be produced in as little as nine hours using 100% recyclable printed materials—accounting for approximately 80% of the vehicle. This approach reduces part count by nearly 90% compared to traditional vehicle manufacturing. Olli 2.0 will introduce a wide range of enhancements across both hardware and software systems.

Collaborative Innovation

LMI maintains both a local and global online community that actively contributes to vehicle design and engineering. The IVO team has been part of the LMI community since 2013, supporting multiple development programs. Without hesitation, IVO officially joined the LMI hardware development team to support the evolution of Olli 2.0.

Industry Perspective

“Working with the team at IVO is a very familiar setting for us at LMI. They share an out-of-the-box approach to hardware development and iterate at an unmatched pace. We’re excited to work closely with Richard and his team once again—not only because of our business relationship, but because of the contagious innovative energy they consistently bring.”
